Do you believe in the mission of Girls on the Run? Do you also envision a world where every girl knows and activates her limitless potential and is free to boldly pursue her dreams? Join us for our 3rd annual Runathon! Join runners & walkers for one hour during the 24 hour relay on a treadmill at the YMCA & be a RUNdraiser!   $25 is due at registration with a minimum fundraising goal of $100 due at the Runathon.

$100 = one full scholarship for a girl to participate in Girls on the Run East Central Illinois!

All participants who meet their fundraising commitment will receive a long sleeve t-shirt, a medal, and an entry into the RUNdraiser Raffle to win a Garmin GPS Running Watch!

Join us for our spring GOTR 5k at Eastern Illinois University

The Girls on the Run 5k is Saturday, April 18!

The Girls on the Run 5k will start on the campus of Eastern Illinois University in Charleston, IL and finish inside of O’Brien Stadium!

Anyone who has been to a Girls on the Run 5K knows that it is unlike any other running event.  It is a celebration of and for the girls who are completing a ten week season of Girls on the Run programming.  Our 5K is a non-competitive event that will bring a smile to your face!  Join over 300 girls, their coaches, and running buddies as we cover 3.1 miles throughout Charleston, IL. This is a celebration 5K, and times will not be recorded nor will results be posted. Everyone who crosses the finish line is a winner!

We welcome anyone who wants to run, walk, or skip their way to the finish line, and all finishers will receive a medal! Don’t delay! Register online!

Fees:

  • $20 –Registration (for registrations received on or before 5pm on Friday, April 17)
  • $25 – Day of Registration (for registrations on-site Saturday, April 18)

Sat. April 18  Timeline:

  • 7:30 – 8:30 am: Event Day Registration and packet pick up.
  • 8:45 am: Opening Ceremony
  • 9 am: Non-competitive 5k begins
  • 8 – 11:00 am: 5K Celebration! Join us for music, face painting, a happy hair station and more!

Information for GOTR & Stride Participants and Families

We have over 600 volunteers that will be out on the course, including the City of Charleston Police Department. Please help us by saying thank you to the volunteers as you go by! Due to our 5k the size of our event there will be no dogs allowed anywhere on the course.

Please have the Girls on the Run girls and  STRIDE boys wear their program shirts.

If you or your child’s running buddy still needs to register, they can do so by calling (217-234-9494) or visiting us at the Mattoon Area Family YMCA or registering online.

Girls on the Run 5k Time Line

8 am: Coaches and kids arrive!
We will have team meet up signs at the finish line. Please meet up with your coaches and team there. Happy Hair and face painting will be open at 7:30 am so please arrive with enough time to do all the activities you want before the 5k begins!

8:45 am: Opening Ceremony including announcing the winner of the WONDERGIRL award!

9 am: 5k Event Starts! NEW COURSE THIS YEAR

9-11 am: Celebration
Includes music, bounce house, photo booth, face painting, happy hair station and other family-fun activities!

Our GOTR girls and STRIDERS will get their very own goody bags! We will be selling Girls on the Run and STRIDE merchandise. We will only be able to accept cash or checks during this time.

Fall 2014 Season is coming SOON!!

Our fall 2014 season begins the week of September 8, 2014. The Girls on the Run 5k will be on Saturday, November 8th. The $100 fee includes 20 lessons, healthy snacks, a water bottle, t-shirt, celebration 5k, finisher’s medal, and an end of the season celebration. Get excited for the next awesome season of Girls on the Run in east-central Illinois! More sites have been added, so we can reach even more girls and bring the power of Girls on the Run to even more people in our community.

Our spring2014 season begins the week of February 3 and ends on April 16 or 17. The Girls on the Run 5k will be on Saturday, April 12 on the campus of Eastern Illinois University . You are welcome to join your girl at the 5k for an additional $20. Participation in the 5k is completely voluntary. The $100 fee includes 20 lessons, healthy snacks, water bottle, t-shirt, celebration 5k, finisher’s medal and an end of the season celebration. Full and partial scholarships are available for families in need.

Sites are limited to a maximum of 17 girls, and registration is on a first come first serve basis.
