Join us at the GOTR Fall 5k Saturday, Nov. 8, 2014!

Start and finish at The Mattoon Area Family YMCA!

We welcome anyone who wants to run, walk, or skip their way to the finish line, and all finishers will receive a medal! Don’t delay! Register online! Join nearly 300 girls, their coaches, and running buddies as we cover 3.1 miles throughout Mattoon, IL. This is non-competitive, celebration 5K, and times will not be recorded nor will results be posted. Finishers will receive a medal, lots of cheers and the admiration of all spectators. Everyone who crosses the finish line is a winner!

Fees:

  • $20 – Pre-Registration (until 6pm Friday, November 7, 2014)
  • $25 – Late Registration (on-site Saturday, November 8th)

Sat. Nov. 8th  Timeline:

  • 7:30 – 8:30 am: Event Day Registration
  • 8:45 am: Opening Ceremony
  • 9 am: 5k Begins
  • 8 – 11:00 am: Celebration!

Information for GOTR & Stride Participants and Families

We have over 600 volunteers that will be out on the course, including the City of Mattoon Police Department. Please help us by saying thank you to the volunteers as you go by! Due to our 5k the size of our event there will be no dogs allowed anywhere on the course. Please have the Girls on the Run girls wear their cobalt shirts. Please have the STRIDE boys wear their gold program shirts. If you or your child’s running buddy still needs to register, they can do so by calling (217-234-9494) or visiting us at the Mattoon Area Family YMCA or registering online. Girls on the Run 5k Time Line 8 am: Coaches and kids arrive! We will have team meet up signs at the finish line. Please meet up with your coaches and team there. Happy Hair and face painting will be open at 7:30 am so please arrive with enough time to do all the activities you want before the 5k begins! 8:45 am: Opening Ceremony including announcing the winner of the WONDERGIRL award! 9-11 am: Celebration Includes music, bounce house, photo booth, face painting, happy hair station and other family-fun activities! Our GOTR girls and STRIDERS will get their very own goody bags! We will be selling Girls on the Run and STRIDE merchandise. We will only be able to accept cash or checks during this time.

Girls on the Run is a transformational physical activity based positive youth development program for girls in 3rd-8th grade. We teach life skills through dynamic interactive lessons and running games. The program culminates with the girls being physically and emotionally prepared to complete a celebratory 5k running event. The goal of the program is to unleash confidence through accomplishment while establishing a lifetime appreciation of health and fitness.

Girls on the Run is an Affiliate Council of Girls on the Run International, which has a network of over 200 councils across the United States and Canada.
